The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 22nd Annual Explosion of Excellence on May 1 at Singing River Elementary. The program honored the top ten percent of each high school in Jackson County, which were 170 seniors. Each student was recognized by his/her principal and was given a $250 book scholarship from a local business or volunteer.
The Moss Point School District (MPSD) joined districts across the state to thank school board members for their leadership and service to the district and community during School Board Member Recognition Week, February 19-25. More than 750 Mississippians are members of local school boards. The board members who serve on the MPSD School Board are responsible for setting the vision and goals for the district.
Moss Point Navy JROTC performed and conducted themselves excellently in Port Clinton, Ohio during the National Navy JROTC Shoulder-to-Shoulder Service Championship February 13th & 14th. Although nerves got the best of them on the first day, they were able to rebound on day two and move into the top 10 and ended with the highest score by any Mississippi JROTC in the service championships.
LIFT students at MPEUE have been involved in an extensive study of Mississippi this school year. One portion of the study required them to choose and research a famous Mississippian.
